I am a FDA microbiologist working at the Denver Lab.

I am also a committee member of ORA’s recently formed lab workgroup working on a business plan to revitalize ORA labs.

I demand the truth. I believe the truth will come out. I think I hear you or the Science Board say that it is the fault of Congress, that has refused to adequately fund the FDA since 1987, while at the same time placed more public healh oversight roles on FDA.

I hear Congess say very loudly and very clearly that FDA management has not made the budget requests necessary to keep pace with its mission since 1987.

Who is telling the truth here? Congress or FDA. Do the math. What have been the yearly percentage increase in budget requests by FDA over the last 20 years. How do FDA budget requests compare to CDC’s budget request over the last 20 years.

The truth will come out one way or the other.

What say ye.
