Cinnamon for diabetes control?

It never would have occurred to me that cinnamon had anything to do with type 2 diabetes one way or the other–calories are what matter–but earlier studies suggested that a gram or so a day helped control blood sugar levels. Apparently, enough of such studies were available to take a look at them as a group and do a “meta-analysis.” Alas, this analysis “found no significant benefits of cinnamon supplement on glycated hemoglobin (A1C), fasting blood glucose (FBG), or other lipid parameters,” a conclusion perhaps disappointing, but not surprising.  Watch the calories!

There are a number of reviews of different cinnamon products at http://www.nutritionaltree.com/search.aspx?search_terms=cinnamon but the reviewrs seem to be having large ranges of success with them.

after 90 days my glucose measures about 20 to 30 points lower. the only diet change about 2 tablespoons cinnamon on cheerios daily. i have been on metformi for about 5 years and this is the first time i have found any other alternative substance that works, at least it works for me. i am 59 and the cinnamon i use is regular cinnamon from walmart. i dont think it is REAL cinnamon from the bark but for me it works great.thanks
