if we want to avoid such problems and concern with mercury,PCBs,etc, take a look at this!

Comparing foods:

http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3163/2

Fish, salmon, Atlantic, farmed, cooked, dry heat
½ Fillet (178grams)
367 Calories
4023 mg Omega-3

Flax, ground
1T (7grams)
1597 mg Omega-3
37 Calories
Organic flax seeds are just ~$3/pound
2.5 Teaspoons = almost 4000 mg O-3 @ under 100 Calories and costs ~11.5¢ per 2.5T serving!
Add it to smoothies, soy yogurt, salads, baked goods—especially as an egg-replacer! Flax is so healthy and very versatile.

Would a governmental organization that is meant to promote optimal health in preventing and controlling diseases be better suited to keep our food supply safe and prevent and control diseases of its citizens? Certainly! Wait--what if the Center for Disease Control and Prevention had the resources allocated to it instead of the current failed system. The FDA or the DA could then just focus on drugs/pharmaceuticals.
I'm sure the CDC would be able to do a much better job working with health departments/hospitals and medical professionals (great work Minnesota) in tracking reports of outbreaks of food-borne-illness, actually getting the COOL country-of-origin-labeling to the public, and I bet they could also do a better job with making sure food labels are not so misleading and confusing as they currently are.
Wouldn't a nation that eats better be less of a burden on the health-care system?

I already get "around" this by refusing to eat any salmon that I know isn't wild caught.

One more reason to lobby against farmed salmon anywhere...
