Dr. Nestle, your statement, "What’s holding up this bill? Nothing but politics of the worst kind," is absolutely false and you know it.

As you well know, there is broad, deep and large opposition to the industrial-size-only approach to food safety that S 510/HR 2749 will make the law of the land.

Over 155 grassroots organizations are in record calling for the essence of the Tester-Hagan amendments which you oppose.

And, once again, I challenge you to a debate of the actual provisions of the bill. Your previous blogs demonstrate a remarkable ignorance of the actual provisions and little understanding of the real world consequences.

As written, S 510/HR 2749 will set back food safety in America for a generation.

I will happily provide accurate information to anyone requesting it from me at healthyfoodcoalition@gmail.com. I am a grower, distributor and retailer of local, healthy food in Black Mountain, NC. Google my name and you will be able to learn that I am who I say I am.

[...] So what’s the hold up? Apparently the bill’s been in a “legislative limbo” and if it doesn’t get passed by the end of this session, Congress will have to reinvent the wheel to get this going again. Marion Nestle, NYU professor and author of Food Politics wrote on her blog today that the hold up is related to “nothing but politics of the worst kind” [source]. [...]
