New game from Japan: competitive eating!
As I keep explaining, I live in an alternative, decidedly pre-electronic universe, so I don’t even know how to begin to tell you about this, except to thank (?) Jack Everitt for attempting to bring me into the modern age. He thinks I ought to know about Tokyo Mango’s new Wii game, “Major League Eating,” the first video game ever to feature the world’s champion competitive food eaters. It comes out in Japan on October 14. Can’t wait.
What is Wii?

Although I haven’t actually fooled around with it, wii is a participative gaming virtual reality system, the next step up from sim city. Thank goodness my grandchildren are too young to have it.

Wii …although an outcome of the videogaming culture, is a system that really promotes activity much more than the other systems. e.g., there is a huge popularity of Wii brewing in retirement communities.
Yet, seniors presumably have lived a good long life already. The prospect of 10 yr olds playing Wii instead of outside is troubling.

Actually, as a comment in the link said, this game is already available in the US, as $10 download Wii-ware.
Oh goody. More encouragement for a culture to eat huge quantities. That should help the general public health status.
Maybe this game will help people eat less by pretending they are eating more
