Woodbourne, NY: Woodbourne Correctional Facility

I am receiving Bard College’s John Dewey Award for Distinguished Public Service at commencement exercises for graduates of the Bard Prison Initiative (BPI).  According to the BPI Wikipedia entry, the program offers a liberal arts degree to incarcerated individuals in five different prisons in New York state.  It enrolls nearly 200 students and is one of the few degree-granting programs that exists since the government eliminated funding for prison education in 1995.

Seattle: University of Washington College of the Environment

New York: What’s Organic About Organic?

I’m participating in a panel after a showing of the new film, “What’s Organic About Organic?”   The film previews June 21-25 at 7:00 p.m., and June 26 and 27 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $10 except June 25, which is a fundraiser for NOFA.  HERE Theater, 145 6th Ave.
